Sizing Info

The Halo Collar strap comes in three sizes that fit dogs who weigh 20lbs+ (9kg+), and have a neck size anywhere from 11 in. to 30.5 in. (28 cm to 77.5 cm). Follow the instructions below to measure your dog's neck, so you can select the appropriate strap size for them.

Measuring Instructions

  1. Wrap a tape measure around the front of your dog’s neck. Tighten so that you can fit just two fingers between the measuring tape and your dog’s neck. You can also measure your dog's current collar.
  2. Determine the strap size by matching up your dog’s neck measurement with the collar sizing chart.
  3. If your dog is in between sizes, we recommend getting the larger size since you can trim it down to fit your dog. The strap can be adjusted for best fit once you receive your Halo Collar.

Halo is the safest and most advanced wireless fence for your dog and it offers so much more than any other GPS dog collar. It combines a wireless dog fence, GPS collar, dog activity tracker, and training collar—all in one smart solution.

The Halo Wireless Dog Fences keep your dog safely inside the boundaries that you easily define, and prevents them from leaving (unlike other tracking collars, which only track and notify you when they escape).

It also keeps track of the activity levels and exercise that result from the freedom the wireless fence provides. Your Halo Collar is the ultimate dog safety and training system that prevents, protects, tracks, and trains your dog—it can even guide your dog home.

How accurate are Halo Wireless Fences compared to "wired" or "electric" fences?

The Halo Collar’s advanced GPS/GNSS system is extremely accurate. It uses the latest geolocation technology and is more accurate than your smartphone. Halo Wireless Dog Fences are not created using a wire, so they can’t be cut, damaged, and don’t need to be installed underground. In addition, Halo fence posts can be placed anywhere, and are not limited by geography or other obstacles that prevent the installation of a wire.

Can the Halo Collar be worn in the water?

Yes, the Halo Collar has been through significant testing, including submersion, swim testing, and salt water testing. It is a totally waterproof GPS dog collar, and it can be worn in any weather, or when your pup is ready for a splash or a swim!

Does Halo use static feedback? When is this feedback useful?

Static feedback provides a sense of “touch” that feels like a tap on the shoulder for your dog. This interrupts your dog’s fixation in dangerous situations and distraction-filled environments to keep them out of harm’s way.

You’re never required to use static with your dog’s Halo, and it is entirely optional. However, some dogs respond best to static feedback for a variety of reasons. Some dogs simply don’t feel vibrations through thick coats or due to their high level of focus. Other dogs actually find it to be far less surprising than vibration prompts! This is because it creates a pulsing sensation that simulates a sense of touch, whereas vibration creates a buzzing sensation with a sound.

The Halo training process will help you customize the feedback that your dog will respond to, based on their personality and learning style. With a range of static levels available, you can provide the right tap-on-the-shoulder effect that is most appropriate to keep your dog safe.

How does Halo keep my dog safely contained inside my Halo Wireless Dog Fence? Is this a “shock collar”?

Halo Collar is not a “shock collar”. When approaching a boundary, your dog will receive a customizable warning. This activates your dog’s associative memory, and your dog will learn that a warning means “keep away” from the boundary and “come back” to safety. Warnings simply serve as reminders to turn back around toward home! After that, two more tiers of preventions (Boundary, then Emergency Feedback) are applied if your dog is distracted and ignores the boundary.

Each of the three types of preventions are completely customizable according to your preferences and your dog’s learning style.

How often should I recharge my Halo Collar and what is the expected battery life of the collar?

The Halo Collar will last for 20+ hours on a single charge, depending on factors such as having the most up-to-date firmware and how much time you are spending in the app. You should remove the Halo from your dog each night, and charge it overnight so you can start the next day with a full charge.
